New Furniture!

This is our 13 year old couch that has been well loved. It has been tromped on, slept on, puked on, jumped on, spilled on, flipped over, you name it. If kids can do it to a couch, mine have done it to this one!! The problem - I've LOVED this couch! It's all of my favorite colors. It doesn't show spots. Believe me, there are plenty! I did not want to get rid of it, but it's time had come :o( We're fairly cheap frugal here so I wasn't willing to shell out the money for a brand new jumping bag couch. We've been looking on craigslist for quite some time. We finally found one that we thought would be adequate in replacing our well loved one.

Here it is! What do you think? Don't you LOVE it??? I was so pleased at how well it blended in with the colors and decor I already have. I think, with time, I could grow to love this one almost as much as the other one :o)

For the rest of the story: When we bought the first couch 13 years ago, we were still in college and poor. The second couch was the one I REALLY wanted, but the smaller one was a bit cheaper. If we bought the smaller one, we could also afford to get a new recliner. So we bought the smaller one. Now here it is 13 years later and I finally get the one I really wanted! Isn't God good?! The cherry on top is the fact that it was actually being sold by someone we knew (we didn't know this at the time.) So we got a wonderful new couch AND we got to help some friends out!!

COOL!

Do YOU get enough veggies?

Aaron takes getting his daily recommended servings of veggies VERY seriously! Um...Mom...time for my veggies.

Oh, that's VEGGIE TALES! Let me tell ya, that boy is a veggie-a-holic!

I think he could watch them every waking moment and possibly every sleeping moment if he got comfortable enough!

Mom...this is the next serving I want.....thanks!

Why I don't post much

Both of my daughters take all the good material! Rachel posted all about the cute prayer time of Aaron and Anna posted about the cold weather we had this week. Between the two of them, there's not much to post. (Unless you want to hear about the puking that's been going on. Yeah, didn't think so!)

The things we do for love

When I saw the cake pan that makes these cute little "muffins" (that's what the cover said!) I just knew Elijah would LOVE it for his birthday cake. Oh, what grand and lofty ideas!! Here are the unfinished (but not raw) train cars.
Here I am working diligently (because the party is in 3 hours) with several different colors of frosting, but unfortunately not enough pastry bags and hookups :o(

Aren't they ADORABLE!!! This was several hours of work later. Not to mention the sugar buzz from sneaking candy and licking spoons of frosting!

See that smile? It makes it all worth it!! Happy 4th birthday Elijah! Mommy loves you!

I guess I should do an introduction

I'm Janice. Wife to one, Mom to 6. Yes, 6! They're split evenly - 3 girls, 3 boys. The oldest is a boy and then, bless his heart, he has three sisters after him before he got a brother. The youngest two are boys. They're all homeschooled. Well, at least the ones that are school aged, that is!

My oldest daughter encouraged me to start this blog. I'm not sure I'm really computer literate enough to handle it, but I'll give it a shot! My hobbies are reading, puzzles, cross stitching, and refereeing (the two little boys, that is!)

Let me know if there's any parts of our life you have questions about!

Blessings!

Yes, I know it's January.....

but when it's 75 degrees outside, I don' t care what month it is! You gotta get out and play!

Elijah assured me he could handle skating all by himself. I'm not sure where he got that idea since he's never been on a pair of skates before, but he did admirably well. Of course, he was covered with grass when he finished. I'm not sure he spent much time upright on the sidewalk.

The girls all got scooters for their birthdays. I swear I don't know why we didn't get them sooner. That's about all they like to do now when they go outside. They've got a few friends in the neighborhood and they're quite a group when they're all out on their scooters. Yes, I know she's barefoot in JANUARY!

That's the way we spend our hard winter days here in Oklahoma :o)
